Good Branding First; Better Marketing Second

Throwing countless hours and dollars into marketing strategies that seem to work for others, just not for you? Maybe you’re tired of your business or product going unnoticed after putting everything you’ve got into getting it’s name out there? Or maybe no-one seems interested and you have no idea why?

Sound like you? Maybe your marketing isn’t the problem, it’s your branding that causing the problems!

Have you ever gone to get groceries and noticed the type of products that tend to catch your eye? They’re generally the ones that have nice logos, unique colours, great packaging and clear, easy to read messaging. You might even add things to the trolley without noticing whether you were getting the best price, nutritional value or morally aligned product - solely because it looked good.

First impressions mean everything, and in a sea of sameness - businesses easily fall victim to fitting in rather than standing out.

As humans we’re drawn to the “visual”… the shiny things, the things that stand out, the things that just straight up look good. Whether we notice it or not, branding is everywhere. But it’s only the good branding which makes us look or think twice.

When you’ve got a good brand and your vision is concise and super clear, people will be drawn to your product/service without much thought (like moths to a flame). And when done effectively, solid branding will result in customer trust. Now that’s the ultimate aim. As soon as you have their trust, it’s not long before they come back for more.

It’s almost impossible to create a successful marketing strategy for your product or service without building a strong brand identity. And once you’ve got a foundation for a solid brand, good marketing always comes much easier.

A good brand will:

  • Highlight your business’s credibility
  • Remain on your consumers radar
  • Build trust and cement loyalty with customers
  • Bring them back for more

1. Make it unique
Your brand needs a personality, so give it one! Connect with people, be relatable, be friendly, be different and be your own. At Wild and Free, we like to break the conventional way of doing things, not just because we are badass, but because it works. We’re like a Swiss army knife, a jack of all trades - that’s what we’re known for, so find yours!

2. Know who you want

Not everyone is going to need your product, and not everyone is going to like it either. So don’t waste your time trying to please everyone! Find your audience, deliver your message clearly and always look for ways to fine tune what you have on offer. Your following will expand naturally, just give it time!

3. Be the best in your class

Selling your product or service isn’t easy, so making sure you’re at the top of your game is vital. If you want to be successful in branding, you’ve got to be good at it. Showcase what you’ve got and do it well. Make something worth someone’s time and money.

4. Always be on show

If your brand has its personality, never shy away from it! Every social media post, email, website, logo, messaging, colour scheme MUST stay aligned with your brands image and vision. Authenticity and consistency are absolutely key to winning the branding game, which means you have to do everything with your best foot forward.

5. Be EVERYWHERE

It’s 2021, if you’re not on social media you’re a dinosaur. You’ve got to be interacting with your audience directly and the best way to do that today is on social media. Make people smile, give them something to think about and give them something to talk about. Just make sure you’re giving them something of value and meaning!
