Easy Instagram Engagement Tips

Instagram is forever changing with their algorithm and sometimes the changes can be hard to catch up on. Once you have an engagement set up, it can very quickly become obsolete with Instagram’s constant updates. Do not fret, here are some simple steps that can help boost your engagement organically even without following the current trends. 


These six simple tips will boost your reach and don’t require any of the current trends to be seen.


1. Let people know where you are

Adding in your location can increase the engagement of your local area which can bring in people and businesses who are able to access your services locally or just acknowledge that your business is local and readily available. It also helps to have locals support you in general, as you are a part of their community.

 

2. Mix up your hashtags!

While they sometimes seem like they’re pointless, you’d be surprised how useful and handy hashtags can be. Find hashtags that fit your brand, that suit your business, that detail your services, what you do and are high/popular in hashtag count. Also ensure that it is relevant to your posts and reels; having a solid mix up of tags that involve your business and your post/reel topics helps you to gain more engagement in the long term.

 

3. Include a call to action in every post

A lot of times, people see your content before they actually see your profile, and if they’re interested enough, they will want to know more. Include a call to action in your captions to reach out to people who may need your services. Tell them what problems you solve and where they can find you. This allows your audience to engage with you direct or your profile!

 

4. Have a consistent schedule 

One of the most helpful things for your profile is to have a consistent schedule. Your reach will be different every single time you post so it is important to keep reminding people you’re still around, and to also introduce yourself to new potential followers/customers. By not keeping the momentum of consistent and regular scheduling and posting, Instagram sees it as you not being interested and can in turn lower your reach. Don’t be overwhelmed by the idea of a schedule, it doesn’t have to be strenuous. Two to three posts or reels per week is enough to keep your engagement up and you can rotate the types of posts and themes so that it is evenly balanced. Some ideas to help you carve out a robust schedule can include team profiles, customer testimonials, recent projects, blogs, tips, value-add information, inspirational quotes and even behind-the-scenes snippets of product launches and events. These are enough to keep people engaged and curious about what you’re offering and partaking in.

 

5. Keep it neat and tidy

You might not have thought about it before but your profile grid can turn people away if it is not consistent, appealing or inviting. It is a wide-open window into your offering, and people typically decide there and then if it is worth looking into further! This can be simple as it just involves consistency, symmetry and placement of your branding.
